Roland Szentpáli: Concerto For Tuba

CONCERTO FOR TUBA AND ORCHESTRA (2002) Ther first movement is a RITUAL, where the soloist is the „táltos” (leader) of an ancient group. Starting with two screams after an ecstatic timpani acceleration, to that the group of people (orchestra) answers. It’s followed by a dance. This movement was inspired by the composer’s interest in antrhopology. The second movement is a DIRGE. This funeral song was composed right after the loss of the composer’s grandfather. This pure, but very emotional song is a remembrance of all the lost beloved. The third movement is RHYMES. Children plays, outdoor games, mockery. A „Csárdás” with lots of humour and surprises.
